I have been an active member of our community. My family and I are members of Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church (LOPC). I am a member of Alamo Rotary and the Splinter and Sliver groups (both contractor groups).
My religious faith and my personal philosophy lead me to share my skills with those less fortunate and in need.
Our family, along with members of LOPC, other local churches and synagogues went to Bologee, Alabama in 1996 to help rebuild a burned-out church. We regularly work on Rebuilding Together (formerly Christmas in April), Habitat for Humanity, and many miscellaneous projects at church. I have had the great pleasure of sharing time with the LOPC youth on several summer work projects.

In the summer of 2006 we will take a group of high school kids from LOPC to Guatemala to work with the poor near the dumps in Guatemala City, and later to build a playground at a school in a rural village on Lake Atitlán.

One of our most rewarding trips was to Guatemala where we worked with Common Hope to help build a home for a needy family.
We also decided to sponsored a nine year old child to help her stay in school. |

Another great family oriented work party was when a group of families from LOPC went to Casa de la Esperanza Orphanage outside Tijuana, Mexico to work and interact with the children.
I love my work because it gives me the opportunity to meet interesting people and offer a service that makes their lives more enjoyable. The pleasure we all get from a job well-done makes our day to day tasks all worth it.
